Rohit Mukherjee

I am currently an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Cologne, in the group of Prof. Simon Trebst.

From 2023 to 2025 I was a Fulbright Fellow at Cornell University, working with Prof. Debanjan Chowdhury.

I finished my PhD in physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, supervised by Prof. Arijit Kundu and Prof. Avinash Singh. Before that, I did my MSc at IIT Kanpur and my BSc at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Kolkata.

My research interests lie mainly in nonequilibrium quantum many-body physics and the statistical mechanics of quantum error correction. More specifically, I study how periodic driving can be used to control superconducting quantum processors built from transmon and fluxonium qubits, Nishimori criticality in Bayesian inference and surface-code decoding, and the use of machine learning in physics.
